FordPass + Lincoln Way
Design Systems
ROLES: App Design / Experience Design / Product Design / QA Testing / UIUX
The FordPass and Lincoln Way Design Systems are digital guides that help unify designers, developers, and project managers with everything they may need to know or understand while working on building new features or pages for either application. It helps connect between all of Ford’s ecosystems, and has become the number one resource to help designers and developers with the same visual design language for digital experiences and products for Ford and Lincoln.
While on this team, I worked closely with Ford’s lead product designers to help make updates, additional components, maintain evolving branding guidelines, overseeing new product features and making sure they are following the DSM, and also helped run “Open Hours” for all designers and developers to help them understand everything better and problem solve new ideas they may have and could not put into context at first.
We managed everything between 5 Product and Experience designers, where we worked on designs and specs through Sketch, centralized all projects through Abstract, and created our DSM through InVision where it was easily accessible and used by all of Ford’s designers and developers.
With the FordPass 3.0 Design System established, one of my main roles was to start coming in and bringing those components and design elements into a new library we had created for the soon-to-be updated LincolnWay App. One of the key struggles we had to work with on top of shifting all Ford branding into Lincoln, was also keeping in mind that this app at the time was going to be leaning more towards a “Dark Mode Only” look and feel, which lead us to have to explore and rethink some options and choices keeping accessibility in mind.
